First outing on the course

First outing on the course was partly successful
My first outing on the course was successful as far as ball striking was concerned, but the fact that it was quite cold (3-4º although the sun was shining) and that the course was operating on winter greens. The winter greens are necessary to protect the proper greens from ball pitch marks and the grass roots from the frost and footprint damage.
I had wanted to spend some time looking at the various slopes and other dimensions of the greens but this was not possible. Maybe next week.
My first impressions of the course were that there would be a premium on accuracy off the tee as most greens were undulating and that some pin positions could be quite difficult to get to from the wrong angle and from the wrong distance. Eg a 4 iron would be more difficult to get close to a pin than a 7 iron. There is much to learn about the course.
I must also get fitter. I was running out of energy after about 14 holes. Admittedly I was carrying my golf bag and it has been a while since I played a round of golf. Off to the gym.
